Urgent Update: Tariffs on Chinese Imports (2/27/25)
We know the latest announcement of an additional 10% tariff on our Chinese imports is surprising to most. During the NFA’s week in Washington, D.C., we had discussions regarding the possible increase in tariff rates coming around April 4, but this one month step up in time was unexpected by everyone in DC and is concerning. We have already been having discussions regarding inclusion on an exemption list, but presently no such list has begun to formally materialize. We will be distributing to our members more detailed information via direct email and through your member login on our website. Rest assured we are working this issue aggressively here on DC. Urgent Update: Tariffs on Chinese Imports (2/4/25)
On January 31, 2025, the White House announced a 10% tariff on imports from China, effective February 4, 2025. This action is part of a broader trade initiative that also includes tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada. More information can be found at https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2025/02/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-imposes-tariffs-on-imports-from-canada-mexico-and-china/
These tariffs are expected to increase costs for suppliers, retailers, and consumers within our industry. The National Fireworks Association is actively monitoring the situation and collaborating with industry leaders and policymakers to advocate for fair trade practices that support our members.
We encourage all members to stay informed and prepare for potential adjustments in pricing and supply chain logistics. We will continue to update you as more information becomes available. Thank you for your dedication to our industry.
