NFA Expo Information
2020 Fall NFA Expo - Kingsport, TN
Dear Valued NFA Member,
It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the cancellation of the 2020 Expo in Kingsport. After extensive surveys of the membership and compiling their responses the Board met via conference call last week and after going through hours of discussion and taking a vote it was decided to cancel our Expo altogether. The NFA membership’s concerns and feedback over travelling and the inability to have the Trade Show were just too significant of a group of factors to lay out the Expo with any certainty of success or value.
Based on our survey responses, attendance numbers were below 50 people planning to attend on site and less than 30 who planned to participate online. The vast majority of responses were “no’s” to both onsite or online attendance. As a result, and putting our emotions aside, the board felt that it would not be a prudent use of NFA and demo company resources to carry on with the event. Our members had responded and spoken.
In the meantime I think it is important to mention that the demo companies that were scheduled for Kingsport have all been notified. We want to thank those companies who have agreed to let the NFA keep their registration fees. This allows us to continue supporting all of the things that we do for the industry. For instance, this will allow us to promote a strong effort to bolster safety awareness and safety programs and continuing to work for our industry in Washington to promote good and fair regulatory oversight. Your NFA does a lot of things to bring value to our industry and your business.
Our Expo is a very important part of that, and although that part of our work could not come to pass given the current pandemic our other very important tasks remain. Your support of the NFA is more important now than ever and we will continue to work very hard for our industry.
At this time we are asking our membership to understand the tough decision that had to be made and we are now working to secure a location for the Spring Expo in Mobile, AL for March of 2021. I believe that demo will be much more important for our members as they will be wanting to see what our industry has coming forth in 2021.
We will be continuing to keep you abreast of what we are doing in the weeks and month’s ahead. Our tasks have not ended, they have taken on a different form in today’s “climate” and we are working hard to complete our duties for all of our members.
